Cell phone ban

Recently city Council banned the use of cell phones while driving. I'm sure a main motivation was an attempt to be stylish as the other progressives (regressives) in the country. New York, San Francisco, Boston and now El Paso all feel compelled to meddle in our lives and control every aspect. Study after study ranks cell phone use down in the list of distractors while driving. Eating, farding, changing radio stations, reading are all either ranked ahead or even with cell phone usage. Why are they not banned? Just not that stylish. Forget that a law already exists addressing inattentive driving. All distractions while driving should be avoided. Persons driving should be completely focused on driving as they are piloting a 2 ton bullet (okay today's cars may be a one ton bullet). A genius Rep. babe remarked that "if it will save one life then it will be worth it." Let's follow that nonsense. If it will save one life let's ban the following as all have taken at least one life.

Driving (25,000 to 50,000 annually)

smoking

soccer

eating (choking)

bicycle riding

skateboards

exercise

drive-bys

football

running

boxing

baseball

childbirth

abortion

murder

drug overdoses

riding horses

medical errors

airplanes

helicopters

swimming

illegally entering the country

sex

consuming alcohol

working

Yes I know many of these already are against the law, but we need a city ordinance for each. After we pass ordinances on these we will add more to the list. Remember if it will save just one life it will be worth it. Tomorrow they will start punishing you for cell phone use.
